2/25/2023 8:50:00 PM

ATLANTA – After scoring seventh overall in the men's one-meter, 11-dive set on Friday, the Centre men's swimming & diving freshman Brandon Anderson took on the second day of the NCAA Region II Diving Championships on Saturday. The Louisville, Ky., native rounded out the championships with a second top-eight on day two, completing a stellar season for the newcomer.

Anderson put together 412.45 points representing the Colonels, helping him push above the ninth-place finisher by less than six points overall. His 5.53 event average score ranked seventh among the 22-competitor field, coming into the event with his 11-dive list holding a 25.1 degree of difficulty. After earning his third 400-point or more total in the season on the one-meter yesterday, Anderson repeated for the three-meter as his third time this season scoring 400 or more points. Anderson solidified himself as the first alternate into the NCAA Championships next month after this weekend's performance.

The Colonels will wait to hear who gets invited to the upcoming NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships, the big dance kicking off on Wednesday, March 15 in Greensboro, N.C. To follow the Gold & White and stay up-to-date on where they'll be next, stay tuned on centrecolonels.com.

DAY ONE (Friday)
After a pair of top-five finishes that included a runner-up spot at the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Swimming & Diving Championships just two weeks ago, Centre men's swimming & diving freshman Brandon Anderson set his sights on the NCAA Diving Region II Championships to try and punch his ticket to the big dance. The Louisville, Ky., native had a solid first day of the championships, emerging in the region's top eight finishers on the men's one-meter board.

Anderson concluded the 11-dive set with 407.25 points, slotting himself seventh overall in the mix of the 23 qualified competitors. He came into the meet with a degree-of-difficulty total of 24.8, performing the fifth-most difficult set of dives out of the entire field. Friday's opening event was the third time this season that Anderson has compiled over 400 points in an 11-dive set.

Anderson will have another event to help put him in the mix for a chance at the NCAA Championships in March, competing in the men's three-meter board on Saturday afternoon. The men's event will kick off after the women's one-meter diving event concludes, the women starting at 12 p.m. ET.
