BEREA, Ky. – The Centre baseball team played its first road game of the year and cruised to a run rule victory over the Berea Mountaineers, winning 14-4 in seven innings.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre got off to a hot start, putting up five runs in the first frame.
Josh Cunningham led off with a walk and then immediately scored when
Dillon Di Iorio homered on the next at-bat.

Karson Thompson worked a walk and then legged it home following a double from
Ben Prather.
- After
Will Cline reached on an error,
Chase Austin's base hit drove in Prather. Cline later scored on a sac fly by
Jamie Laframboise and the Colonels had a quick 5-0 lead.
- The Colonels got another one on the board in the second as Cunningham once again got on base to lead off with a single and later scored on an RBI groundout by Thompson.
- Centre added to the lead in the third. With Laframboise on third and
Evan Weyler on second,
Aaron Lopez and Cunningham came through with consecutive singles to make it 8-0. Di Iorio drove in his third run of the night with a sacrifice fly to score Lopez. After Cunningham stole second, Thompson capped off the four-run frame with an RBI single.
- Berea scored four times in the fourth, and then things finally quieted down for a few innings before the Centre bats got hot once again in the seventh. Lopez was hit by a pitch and Cunningham singled. An error allowed Lopez to score and a walk loaded the bases Cline worked a bases loaded walk to score Cunningham, and then another error allowed Cline and Prather to score to make it 14-4.

Ethan McGriff worked a 1-2-3 seventh inning to seal the deal for the Colonels.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Colonels finished with 13 hits to get their 14 runs on the night. Cunningham went a perfect 5-5 at the plate and scored four times. He also picked up three of Centre's five stolen bases for the game.
- Di Iorio became the third Centre player to go yard this season and tied Thompson and Laframboise for the team lead with three RBIs.
- McGriff earned his first career win after allowing just two hits in 4.1 innings of work.
