Box Score DANVILLE, Ky. – The Centre men's tennis team (4-6, 0-1 SAA) hosted one final home contest before their Texas trip during spring break next week, inviting Berea College to a Tuesday-night battle in the Seabury Family Tennis Courts on campus. The Colonels emerged as the victors in the match, sweeping the Mountaineers on a 9-0 final score.
Senior
Luke Pellegrino and sophomore
Emerson Dean held the most impressive performance for the men's doubles matches on Tuesday night, sweeping their opponent on an 8-0 score in the no. 3 series in the lineup. Junior-duo
Ashton Whitt and
Brian Graves weren't too far behind them at the no. 2 spot, winning with an 8-1 final score. The no. 1 spot was held on an 8-2 win for the Colonels,
Ben Rueff and
Tanner Ray taking command of that series.
Centre had several strong wins in the singles categories,
Jasper Gazzo (no. 2), Dean (no. 4) and Graves (no. 6) each holding a perfect 6-0, 6-0 final score in their respected matches. Ray was just shy of a perfect score as well in his 6-1, 6-0 victory, taking command of the no. 5 match in the Colonels' contest. The Gold & White also held two series that had a final score of 6-2, 6-0, the match wins being head by the no. 1 competitor,
Jett Anderson, and the no. 3 student-athlete,
Chase Turley.
Centre will look to have several other impressive matches down south, taking on a total of six matches from Saturday, March 18 to Sunday, March 26. The first game on their schedule will be against Concordia in Austin, Texas, that match kicking off at 4 p.m. ET.
