Colonels walk it off for 5-4 comeback victory against Hanover

DANVILLE, Ky. – The Centre baseball team staged a late rally in the final two innings to come from behind for a 5-4 walk-off victory against Hanover on Tuesday, matching last season's win total with victory no. 17 on the year.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

- The visiting Panthers got on the board first in the second inning as they scored three runs on five hits. Centre got two of those runs back on their turn to hit in the second as Mark Pyburn walked and reigning SAA Player of the Week Chase Austin pulled one over the right field fence to make it 3-2.
- From there, things cooled down on both sides as Centre and Hanover each managed just one hit over the next five innings. Mason King held it down for the Colonels in middle relief, shutting down the hot Hanover bats.
- Hanover added to the lead in the top of the eighth as a wild pitch gave the Panthers a 4-2 lead.
- In Centre's half of the eighth, Aaron Lopez led off with a walk. An opposite field double by Dillon Di Iorio just inside the line put runners on second and third, and an RBI groundout by Ben Prather allowed pinch runner Cole Fergusson to score and cut the deficit in half.
- After David Kinsbrunner pitched out of a jam in the top of the ninth, Matthew Maggard led off the bottom of the inning with a walk. A wild pitch and an error put runners on the corners with nobody out. Jamie Laframboise put one into play and pinch runner Carson Mire beat the tag for the tying run. A walk to Josh Cunningham put the winning run on third in the person of pinch runner Baylor Woodall, and following a passed ball, Woodall's mad dash to the plate ended the game in dramatic fashion for the Colonels.
