CONWAY, Ark. - Centre baseball secured a series victory over Hendrix with a doubleheader sweep on Saturday, but could not lock down the 3-0 sweep as the Warriors took Sunday's series finale by a score of 15-9.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Just like in the first two games of the series, it did not take long for the Centre offense to come alive, as they staged a two-out rally in the first.
Ben Prather ripped a double down the left field line, and then
Karson Thompson singled and stole second to put runners on second and third.
Chase Austin went the other way into the gap for a two-run double and was brought home by a
Jamie Laframboise base hit to give Centre an early 3-0 lead.
- Hendrix answered right back with three runs in their half of the the first and the shootout was on. The Colonels retook the lead in the second as
Dillon Di Iorio delivered a gapper that resulted in a triple and Prather came through with another clutch hit, this time an RBI single.
- Over the next three innings, the Warriors would score the next six runs to go up 9-4. Centre responded in the fifth when Prather and
Matthew Maggard walked and cruised to the plate following a three-run home run by
Teddy Holloway to narrow the gap to two.
- The Warriors had their highest scoring inning in the bottom of the sixth as they scored five runs to go up by a football score of 14-7. The Colonels got two back in the eighth on productive outs by Di Iorio and Prather to make it 15-9, but could get no closer.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Holloway had one of the best hitting days of his career, going 3-4 with three RBIs and his first career homer.
- Prather capped off an excellent series with a pair of hits and two RBIs after homering in game 1 and winning game 2.

Drake Kawa and
Jack Gerber made their first appearances of the season out of the pen and combined to allow just two baserunners and no runs in 2.1 innings of work.
