BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After taking down Millsaps just the day before, the Centre men's tennis team (12-10, 4-3 SAA) traveled out to Birmingham Southern to take on the Panthers for the regular season finale on Sunday. The Colonels couldn't emerge as the victor, falling on a final score of 7-2.
The Gold & White were able to take one of the three doubles series that took place in their road content,
Bo Bush and
Ty Bush putting together a strong victory at the no. 1 lineup spot on an 8-6 final score. BSC took down the other two series, the team of
Faraz Ghamgosar and
Ben Rueff (8-2) at the no. 2 slot with
Ashton Whitt and
Jasper Gazzo (8-4) as part of the third team in the order.
Centre was able to pick up a victory in singles, freshman
Ben Rueff at the no. 5 spot picking up a strong 6-2, 6-3 win. Ghamgosar fell in the top spot of the lineup on a final score of 6-0, 6-0,
Jett Anderson resulting next in the 6-2, 6-1 loss at the no. 6 spot. Whitt served as the no. 4 man in the Colonels' order, falling on a 6-2, 6-1 score. The no. 3 series final score didn't fall in
Bo Bush's way (6-2, 6-3),
Ty Bush falling as well on a 6-4, 6-4 score as the team's no. 2 competitor.
The Colonels cemented the no. 4 seed heading into the 2023 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Men's Tennis Tournament, the team competing against the eventual fifth seed that has yet to be determined. The tournament will start on Friday, April 28, running through Sunday, April 30 at the Champions Club Tennis Complex in Chattanooga, Tenn. For all updates on everything Gold & White, check back at
