Colonels drop first game of SAA Tournament series to Sewanee

DANVILLE, Ky. – The Centre baseball team played the first of the best-of-three series to open postseason play, as the offense went cold in a 3-0 loss to the Sewanee Tigers on Friday night.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

- The Tigers hit the ball well early on, connecting on a few seeing-eye hits to score a pair of runs in the first two innings.
- The Colonels had their best chance of cracking the scoreboard in the fifth after Teddy Holloway smacked a triple off the center field wall to lead off the inning, but he was thrown out while trying to score on a wild pitch to end the threat.
- In the seventh, Sewanee added another run following an error and a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0, and the Colonels managed just one hit the rest of the way as the Tigers secured the victory.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

- Starter Luc Morgan and reliever Zach Heavern combined for ten strikeouts on the night, finishing with five each.
