DANVILLE, Ky. – Earlier this week Centre College announced the hiring of Noah Hughes as its new Assistant Athletic Director for Communications.
"We are excited to welcome Noah to the Centre Athletics family," said Brad Fields '98, Director of Athletics and Recreation at Centre College. "Noah has a broad-based background as an athletics communications professional, and now he steps into a senior administrator's role. As our expert strategic communicator, Noah's passion for Division III athletics, his knowledge of our landscape, and his experience have prepared him to accept the mantle as lead storyteller for Centre Athletics."
Hughes comes to Centre following a successful tenure as Director of Athletics Communication at Spalding University, where he spent the last academic year. While at Spalding, Hughes oversaw the day-to-day communication duties of 17 athletic programs while working with a group of over 20 student employees and made a massive impact the department's social media networks, increasing page impressions and profile reach by over 200 percent.
Before Spalding, Hughes worked in similar capacities at Maryville College, Northern Michigan University and Union College, and was a graduate assistant at both Union and with the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
"Centre student-athletes have phenomenal stories to tell, and Noah will lead this effort," Fields concluded.
A graduate of Berea College, Hughes is a two-time National Youth Storytelling Showcase Champion and a three-time Kentucky Youth Storytelling Showcase State Champion. He serves on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) New Media and CSC U committees and presented at the 2023 CSC Unite convention in Orlando, Florida. He also worked as a freelancer, providing live statistics calling/input for multiple NCAA institutions across all three divisions. Additionally, he provided media operations support at the 2023 NCAA Men's Basketball Division I Championships Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight Louisville regional.
