ORLANDO, Fla. – Centre College Cheerleading impressed in the program's first UCA Collegiate National Championship appearance as a varsity team as the Colonels claimed 13th in the the Open All-Girl Game Day division of competition in Orlando, Fla.
After making it past the first round, the Gold & White advanced to the semifinals of their division which included 37 schools. Centre earned a score of 90.1 in the second round in Florida. That score was over two points above the next competitor. The Colonels missed a trip to the finals by just 1.4667 points.
The all-girl squad finished ahead of multiple NCAA Division I schools including Iona University, Wagner College Linfield University, Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis, and East Tennessee State University.
West Chester University won the national championship by a final score of 98.8. The University of Rhode Island (98.4667) and Sacred Heart University (98.4) rounded out the top three.
