1/27/2024 7:54:00 PM

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio/LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Centre men's track & field team sent a partial squad to Wittenberg for the Steemer Indoor Showcase, as well as some individuals to the University of Louisville for the Lenny Lyles Invitational. The Colonels finished 12th overall at Wittenberg but had a good weekend as two new school records were established.

In the men's 1000m at Wittenberg, sophomore Reeve VanDemark and freshman Carter Russell posted respective times of 2:37.22 and 2:37.67 in the race. Both were good enough to place in the top five overall and both were faster than the previous school record held by Victor Pataky since 2014.

The men's 60m hurdles saw Justin Lewis finish seventh overall with a time of 8.74.

The Colonels posted a fifth place finish at each of the meets in the men's pole vault. At Louisville, All-American Logan Isaacs posted a clear of 15-11.75. At Wittenberg, freshman Alex Hibbens cleared 13-3.5 to take fifth place.

Moving onto jumps, sophomore Michael Smith finished seventh overall in the high jump at Wittenberg with a clear of 6-3.5, a little over an inch shy of a school record.

The final men's record to fall came in the men's heptathlon at Louisville, as Nick Whitlow established a new scoring record with 4,643 points.
