SPRINGFIELD, Ohio/LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Centre women's track & field competed in a pair of meets over the weekend as they went to the Steemer Indoor Showcase at Wittenberg as well as the Lenny Lyles Invitational at the University of Louisville, and both meets were filled with top notch performances.
The best event category for the Centre women across both meets was the jumping events. On Friday at Louisville, rookie
Serena McNeilly tied a school record in the high jump with a mark of 5-3. The next day at Wittenberg, McNeilly established a new program record in the event with a mark of 5-4.5. In the triple jump, McNeilly again led the way for Centre, taking second place at Wittenberg with a mark of 37-2.25. Senior
Shelby Smith finished a foot behind McNeilly to take third place at 36-2.25. Finally, in the long jump,
Chloe Hein posted a mark of 17-6 to take fifth place overall.
In the distance races,
Sophie Bouldin raced in the women's 5k at Louisville and placed fourth overall with a time of 17:49.03. At Wittenberg,
Erin Haugh raced in the mile and finished eighth overall with a time of 5:23.94.
Janea Bottinelli had a fine race for the Colonels in the 500m as she posted a time of 1:24.96 to finish third overall.
In throws,
Lauren Foutch took fourth place in both events as she posted marks of 50-7 in the weight and 39-5.75 in the shot put.

Centre track & field will be off next week, but will return to competition on Feb. 10 with the Centre Indoor Showcase at the Fieldhouse.
