ROME, Ga.- On Tuesday morning, the Colonels teed off in their final round of golf for the 2024 fall circuit. Entering the day in third, Centre men's golf ultimately finished in fifth place with a team score of 599 (296-303).
Averett took first place with a combined mark at 586. Berry placed second with a team score of 587 while Methodist rounded out the top three with a score of 590.
Jiles Wyatt jumped 30 seeds up the leaderboard between his two rounds. Finishing in seventh outright with a final score of 145 (76-69), Wyatt was the only Colonel to shoot under par on the day.
Harrison Akers improved to a tie for eighth after his final 18-holes. Shooting no worse than a bogey on any hole, the junior closed his play with a combined score of 146 (73-73).
Joshua Peters shared the 26
th seed with a final score of 150 (70-80). The senior tied for fifth individually on the total birdies leaderboard with six.
Rounding out Centre's line-up,
Charlie Reber claimed a share of the 80
th seed with a score of 158 (77-81) while
Dylan McGrath closed in a tie for 88
th with a combined mark of 159 (77-82).
MONDAY RECAP
The Centre men's golf team initiated their play in the annual Chick-Fil-A Invitational on Monday morning. Facing 18-holes in day one, the Colonels rest in a tie for third ahead of their final round of play.
As a team, the Colonels currently rank in the top three teams for their performances in par-4 scoring and total birdies.
Methodist B currently leads in first with a score of 288 while Berry rests in second with a combined mark of 289. Centre shares the two-way tie for third with Averett, both teams with scores of 296.
Joshua Peters paced the Colonels through round one. Landing in the tie for fifth, the senior shot two under par with a first-round score of 70. Peters is currently tied for the best performing athlete in par-4 play, averaging 3.80 a round.
Harrison Akers is the final Colonel to crack the top 25. The Tennessee native shot one over par (73) to share the tie for 13
th ahead of round two. Akers ranks third individually for total birdies with six.
Jiles Wyatt landed in the tie for 37
th with a first-round score of 76. The senior is currently ranked sixth on the par-5 leaderboard after averaging 4.25 a round.
Rounding out the Colonels' line-up,
Dylan McGrath and
Charlie Reber share the 52
nd seed, each with a score of 77. McGrath presently owns the second most pars with 14.
