Men’s golf takes 13th at West Pines Collegiate

ATLANTA- On Tuesday, Centre men's golf completed their play at the West Pines Collegiate, hosted by Oglethorpe University. After their 54-holes, the Colonels took 13th place with a complete team score of 902 (305-295-302).
 
Oglethorpe A took first place with a complete mark of 850. Lynchburg landed in second with a score of 855 while Mississippi-Women rounded out the top three with an 864.
 
Jiles Wyatt jumped 13 seeds up the leaderboard to front the Colonels and land in a tie for 28th. Matching his second-round score of 72 with another in round three, the senior finished with a complete score of 222.
 
Dylan McGrath followed closely, landing in a tie for 31st with a complete score of 223 (77-72-74).
 
Brett Cooper landed in at tie for 45th with a final mark of 227 (73-76-78). Averaging 4.67 par-5s a round, the junior ranked 5th within that statistical leaderboard. 
 
Rounding out the Colonels' line-up, Harrison Akers landed in a tie for 87 with a completed score of 236 (83-75-78) while James Folz claimed a share of 82nd place with a mark of 237 (77-76-84).
 
Competing individually, Jack Butts shared the tie for 33rd with a complete mark of 224 (72-82-70) while Palmer McKelvey took 99th with a score of 244 (78-84-82).
 
MONDAY RECAP 
On Monday morning, the Centre men's golf team returned to action in the West Pines Collegiate. Before all teams could complete their 36-holes, play was suspended due to darkness. The Colonels were able to finish their two rounds, and before play was halted, the Gold & White ranked 11th with a combined score of 600 (305-295).
 
Due to the suspension of play, individual rankings will change as athlete complete their rounds tomorrow morning.
 
Dylan McGrath and Brett Cooper led the Colonels through day one, each achieving an opening combined score of 149. McGrath shot 77-72 while Cooper scratched 73-76, allowing the two Colonels to tie for 34th. Before suspension, Cooper ranked fifth on the par-3 leaderboard after averaging three a round while McGrath placed fourth amongst the par-5 leaderboard with 4.63 a round. 
 
Jiles Wyatt followed closely with an opening mark of 150. Bettering his first-round score of 78 with a 72 in round two, the senior claimed a share of 41st place.
 
Rounding out Centre's line-up, James Folz settled into a tie for 56th with a score of 153 (77-76) while Harrison Akers claimed a share of 81st with a combined mark of 158 (83-75).
 
Competing individually, Jack Butts shared the tie for 64th with a score of 154 (72-82) as Palmer McKelvey placed in a tie for 99th with a mark of 162 (78-84).
 
UP NEXT
The Colonels will host a one day tournament at the Danville County Club on Oct. 14th.
