Four more records fall for women's track & field at Wittenberg Invite

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Centre women's track & field had another eventful day as they competed in their final tune-up before the indoor conference championships with the Wittenberg Invite. The Colonels finished third in a field of teams spanning every division and set four new school records.
 
The Colonels finished with 40 points overall to take third place, defeating every team except Ohio Northern and Wright State in the 18-team field.
 
In the sprints, Madjo Doumbia had her best indoor meet ever on Saturday, setting school records in both of her races. Doumbia posted a time of 7.79 in the 60m to break her previous record in the race from earlier this season by 0.05 seconds. In the 200m, she set her second school record of the day in 25.59 to finish third overall.
 
Moving onto the longer races, sophomore Sophie Bouldin got into the scoring column for the Centre women in the mile as she posted a time of 5:08.05 to finish sixth overall.
 
The other two school records that fell came in the jumping events. In the triple jump, Jasmine Claunch added more to her existing school record as she won the event with a mark of 39-11.5. Fellow senior Shelby Smith came in third place in the event with a mark of 35-5.25. Claunch also won the women's long jump as she posted a mark of 18-3.75 to take first place. Rookie Serena McNeilly finished fourth in the same event with a mark of 17-6.25. In the high jump, McNeilly set a new program record for the third time this season as she posted a clear of 5-5.75 to take second place overall. Riley Brown cleared 4-6.75 to finish seventh for the Colonels in the high jump.
 
In the throws, Lauren Foutch had a pair of scoring performances for the Colonels, placing second in the weight throw (50-0.5) and fifth in the shot put (38-10.25) to wrap up the scoring for Centre.

Centre College will host the inaugural Southern Athletic Association Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 23-24 inside Champions Hall.
