SATURDAY RECAP
DANVILLE, Ky. – The first ever Southern Athletic Association Indoor Track & Field Championships wrapped up on Saturday afternoon inside Champions Hall and the Centre women came away with the first place trophy with an excellent team performance.

The Colonels built off the strength of their Friday session and cruised to victory with a combined team score of 253 points. Berry took second place with 186.5 points, followed by Rhodes with 112.5.

The first event of the day was the pole vault and
Jessica Peterson finished eighth overall with a clear of 8-6.75.
Â
Much like the long jump in the Friday session, the Centre women dominated the triple jump, with each of the top three jumps and four of the top eight.
Jasmine Claunch won the event with a mark of 39-10, with
Serena McNeilly (37-8.25) and
Shelby Smith (35-9.25) joining her on the podium.
Kiyah King finished eighth in the event with a mark of 31-3.25 to give Centre 25 total points for the triple jump.

In the 60m hurdles,
Joyner Jikang paced the Colonels with a time of 10.14 to finish fifth overall.
Janea Bottinelli finished seventh with a time of 10.35.

The 400m was a great race for the Centre women, as the Colonels had four of the eight scoring times for 17 total points.
Madjo Doumbia took second place with a school record time of 59.43.
Chloe Hein (1:00.97),
Ainsley Wilson (1:01.26) and Bottinelli (1:02.44) took places 5-7 in that order.

The first sprint of the day was another good event for the Colonels, who placed three of the top five in the 60m. Doumbia finished second with a time of 7.84, followed by Claunch in third at 7.99 and
Amari Robinson in fifth at 8.21 to give Centre another 18 points for the meet. The 200m played out in similar fashion as Doumbia finished second again with another school record time of 25.19 and
Chloe Hein in third at 26.27, with Robinson coming in sixth at 27.31.

Moving onto the distance races, the Colonels had another impressive performance in the mile.
Sophie Bouldin won with a time of 5:21.82.
Erin Haugh found herself on the podium as well, finishing third in 5:28.22 while
Emma Musgrave finished fifth in 5:33.54. The 3000m was another strong race for Centre as
Meghan Owens got her second win of the championship meet with a time of 10:28.36.
Cara Taylor finished third in 10:43.96, followed by
Emma Musgrave in sixth at 11:13.53 to pick up 19 more points.

In the shot put,
Lauren Foutch picked up a second place finish with a mark of 40-3.
Â
Finally, the women's 4x400m squad of Robinson, Bottinelli, Hein and Wilson took third place in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:17.75.

FRIDAY RECAP
DANVILLE, Ky. – Champions Hall played host to the inaugural Southern Athletic Association Indoor Track & Field Championships, and with one day of events left to go, the Centre women are in first place.

A new program record was set in the women's high jump as rookie
Serena McNeilly set a new Centre women's track high mark with a clear of 5-6.25, making it the fourth time she has set the record this season. She also picked up the win, while teammate
Riley Brown finished seventh with a clear of 4-9.75.

The Colonels dominated the women's long jump, with the top four finishers and five of the eight scoring marks.
Jasmine Claunch won the event with a mark of 18-3, followed by McNeilly (17-11.75),
Chloe Hein (17-9.75) and
Callie Gormley (17-2.75) to round out the top four, while
Shelby Smith posted a mark of 16-4 to take seventh.

Another dominant event for the Centre women was the 5k, with the Colonels taking each of the first four spots.
Meghan Owens got the win with a time of 18:10.24, with
Sophie Bouldin (18:52.32),
Cara Taylor (18:57.25) and
Rachel Gaynor (19:32.35) finishing off the rest of the top four in that order.

In the women's weight throw,
Lauren Foutch picked up the win with a mark of 51-10, while
Lindsey Browning finished seventh with a throw of 43-4.

The Colonels closed out the evening with a bang as the team of Bouldin,
Erin Haugh,
Ainsley Wilson and
Adelyn Shupert picked up a win in the distance medley relay with a time of 12:34.66, breaking the school record that had stood since the 2012 season.

All-SAA honors are given to those student-athletes who finish in the top three in their respective events. A running tally of Centre's All-SAAÂ performers and their events based on their highest finishes will kept here during the conference championships.
