BEREA, Ky. – The Centre baseball team made a short trip up the road for a Tuesday night in-state clash against the Berea Mountaineers. The Colonels took care of business with a 17-5 victory, Centre's 14th win of the season.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- After a scoreless opening frame, Centre took control of the game in the second inning.
Evan Weyler led off with a base hit, and then an error put runners on the corners.
Karson Thompson,
Chase Austin and
Conner Jackson delivered consecutive hits to plate the first three runs. An RBI groundout by
Ayden Lohr drove in another, and then Jackson scored on a wild pitch.
- Centre capped off the eight-run inning with an RBI single by
Michael Lynch, with the final two runs coming on an error.
- Over the next three innings, Berea clawed back to cut the lead in half, but Centre got a run back in the fifth following doubles from Thompson and Austin.
- The Colonels got another run in the sixth manufactured by
Ben Prather, who singled, advanced on a wild pitch, stole third and eventually scored on an error.
- In the seventh inning, Centre loaded the bases and
Josh Cunningham walked to drive in Centre's 11th run of the night.
Robert Monaco was hit by a pitch and Prather lifted a deep fly ball to score two more.
- Centre added three more in the eighth to cap off their night as Prather ripped an RBI double to score Lohr, followed by a two-run triple from
Perry Nadreau.
- Making his first career pitching appearance,
Will Kempf struck out the side in the eighth to finish off the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Five different Centre players finished with two hits each. Prather and Austin each led the way with three RBIs.
- Centre pitchers struck out 13 Berea batters for the night, led by starter
Jess Miller with five.

The Colonels will be back at home this weekend as they host Concordia-Chicago for a three-game set.
