MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Centre baseball team opened its second conference series of the year as they hit the road to face the Berry Vikings. Game 1 of the series went to the host Vikings, who won a 2-1 pitching duel.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- For the first three innings, neither team could crack the opposing pitcher as
Luc Morgan battled to keep the Vikings off the scoreboard.
- Centre got on the board first in the top of the fourth after
Evan Weyler reached on an error, advanced on a wild pitch and eventually scored following a
Michael Lynch base hit.
- The Vikings manufactured a run of their own after a leadoff hit in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game and again the game reached a stalemate for two more innings.
- In the Berry half of the sixth, the home team retook the lead 2-1 with a two-out shot up the middle.
- The Colonels put the tying run on third in the top of the seventh and again on second in the top of the ninth, but couldn't get the runner across either time.

Ayden Lohr each led the Colonels with a pair of hits.

David Kinsbrunner pitched 2.1 scoreless innings in relief of Morgan. Both Centre pitchers struck out three Vikings today.
