Men's track takes second place at Centre Twilight

DANVILLE, Ky. - The Centre men's track & field team hosted their second meet in four weeks with the Centre Twilight at Andy Frye Stadium. The meet stretched well into the night, but when it was over, the Colonels took second place in the 11-team field of teams from all divisions.
 
In the sprints, the Colonels had four of the top eight finishes in the 200m. Jeremy Olliges took second place with a time of 22.19, followed immediately by Jackson Heim and Beau Brown in the top four, with Gray Rahbany finishing eighth to give the Centre men 20 points for the race. The 400m saw Heim pace the Colonels with a time of 49.68 to finish third, with Rahbany and Olliges also clocking in for top-eight finishes.
 
The middle and long distance races were huge point producers for the Colonels. In the 800m, Reeve VanDemark was a quarter of a second away from breaking a 40+ year school record as he won the race with a time of 1:55.98. Carter Russell, Noah George and Luke Watkins all landed inside the top six for 23 points for Centre in the race. The 1500m saw Russell get the win with a time of 4:07.50. In the 5k, reigning SAA Track Athlete of the Week Will Lovell won the race with a time of 15:06.44, with Ike Synnestvedt taking fourth place and Preston Dickerson finishing right behind him in fifth.
 
The Colonels managed 43 combined points over the two hurdling events. In the 110m, Dirk Gambrel led the way with a time of 15.26 to finish third, followed immediately by Justin Lewis and Corbin Ison. The 400m was even better for the Colonels as Gambrel, Ison and Landon Binion produced a 1-2-3 finish, with Lewis taking fifth place. Gambrel got the win in the 400m with a time of 54.92.
 
In relays, the team of Heim, Olliges, Gambrel and Rahbany got the win in the 4x400m with a time 3:24.10. Rahbany, Olliges and Heim teamed with David Almona to take second place in the 4x100m with a time of 42.10.
 
Moving onto jumps, the Colonels picked up 21 points in the pole vault as Logan Isaacs cleared 15-11 to earn the win, with Wyatt Ostrander taking third place and Alex Hibbens finishing fourth. In the long jump, Christian Billiter finished seventh with a mark of 21-5.25.
 
Finally, in throws, Terique Murphy-Adams took fifth place in the shot put and discus with respective marks of 40-10.25 and 116-1. In the hammer, Tyler Vaughn led the way with a throw of 127-1 to finish sixth, followed immediately by Murphy-Adams and Xavier Hayden. The javelin saw Lewis take fifth place with a mark of 112-6, with Peyton Dabney finishing sixth.
