FLORENCE, Ala.- On Tuesday, the Centre men's golf team entered their final round of the Shoals Intercollegiate, hosted by Emory University. After 54-holes, Centre A shared a tie for fourth with a team score of 917 (309-310-299) while Centre B finished 12
th with a team score of 977 (329-330-318).
Guiding the Colonels through the final round,
Harrison Akers and
Charlie Reber matched one another with final scores of 228. Recording an Eagle on hole 12, Akers was able to cancel out three bogeys to finish one over par. Reber matched his round two score of 75 in round three, allowing for the five seed jump up the leader board. The two finished in a tie for 21
st.
Joshua Peters saved his best round for last. Bettering his previous two rounds with a 73 in day three, the junior closed in at a tie for 26
th with a complete score of 229 (76-80-73).
Rounding out Centre A's line-up,
Brett Cooper landed in a tie for 33
rd with a combined score of 232 (78-76-78) while
Dylan McGrath finished in a tie for 51
st with a final mark of 248 (84-80-84).
Jiles Wyatt led Centre's B team from start to finish. The junior finished in a tie for 39
th after registering a final score of 235 (77-79-79).
Charlie Morgan landed in 50
th even with a final score of 246 (82-81-83).
James Folz followed directly after Morgan, sharing a tie for 51
st with a combined mark of 248 (86-84-78).
Rounding out the roster,
Cameron Bassel finished in 55
th with a combined mark of 352 while Jack Butt closed in at 58
thwith a final score of 258.
MONDAY RECAP
Centre men's golf returned to the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course to partake in round two of the Shoals Intercollegiate. After 36-holes, team A remains in sixth with a team score of 618 (308-310) while squad B rests in 12
th with a combined mark of 659 (329-330).
Reber shaved three strokes off in day two to move to the top of the Colonels' leader board. The rookie registered 13 pars and a birdie to counteract four bogeys, making for a second-round score of 75. Heading into his final round, Reber rests in a tie for 26
th with a complete score of 153.
Also improving in his second round is
Brett Cooper. The sophomore jumped to 28
th individually after scratching a 76 in day two, making for a combined mark of 154.
Harrison Akers' consistency in par-3 play continued to rank the Colonel in the top 10 for that statistical category. After his second round of play, the sophomore sits in a tie for 31
st with a complete score of 155 (76-79).
Rounding out the A team roster,
Joshua Peters shares a tie for 33
rd with a complete score of 164 (84-80) while
Dylan McGrath improved to 49
th with a second-round mark of 80.
Jiles Wyatt continued to pace Centre's second team with a combined mark of 156. Finishing round two seven strokes over, Wyatt shares the tie for 33
rd with Peters.
Charlie Morgan improved in his second round of 18-holes. Registering an 81 in day two, the junior rests in a tie for 47
th heading into the final round.
Matching one another with combined scores of 170,
Cameron Bassel and
James Folz presently rest in a tie for 55
th.
Closing out the Colonels' line-up,
Jack Butts registered a 93 in round two, placing him in 60
th place with a combined score of 180 (87-93).
SUNDAY RECAP
On Sunday, Centre men's golf took two full squads to the Robert Trent Jones golf course to open their play in the Shoals Intercollegiate. After their first set of 18-holes, Centre "A" landed in 6
th place with a team score of 308 while Centre "B" currently rests in a tie for 10
th with a combined mark of 329.
Centre's A Team consists of
Harrison Akers,
Joshua Peters,
Charlie Reber,
Brett Cooper, and
Dylan McGrath. Centre's B Team includes
Jiles Wyatt,
Charlie Morgan,
Cameron Bassel,
James Folz, and
Jack Butts.
Peters and Akers set the pace for Centre A, the two matching with a first-round score of 76. Averaging two and a half par-3s per round, Akers ranks third individually in that statistical category. Heading into round two, the two Colonels share the tie for 17
th.
Reber and Cooper mirrored one another with a score of 78 in their opening 18-holes. Cooper ranked second overall in par-5 play after averaging 4.25 per round. Entering day two, the two athletes share a tie for 32
nd.
Rounding out Centre A's line-up, McGrath rests in the tie for 50
th with an opening mark of 84.
Wyatt paced Centre B after registering a first-round score of 77 and owning the Colonels' only Eagle. Entering day two, the junior rests in a tie for 22
nd.
Morgan landed in a tie for the 46
th seed after scratching an 82 in his initial round of play.
Bassel put together an 84 in this opening round, sharing the tie for 50
th with McGrath.
Rounding out the Gold & White is Folz and Butts. Folz claimed a share of 55
th with a score of 86 while Butts followed just after in 57
th with an opening mark of 87.
