Baseball advances in SAA Tournament on Prather's walk-off blast

DANVILLE, Ky. – The storybook season for Centre baseball continued as a walk-off home run by Ben Prather in the bottom of the ninth lifted the Colonels to a 4-3 victory over the Millsaps Majors, advancing them to the next round of the SAA Tournament.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

- Luc Morgan pitched his way out of situations with runners in scoring position in the second and third innings, but the Majors rallied with two outs in the fourth to get on the board first at 1-0.
- Millsaps added to their lead in the top of the sixth with another two-out run that saw the Majors put another pair of runs on the board, putting Centre's backs against the wall.
- In the eighth, Millsaps had an opportunity to blow it open with the bases loaded and nobody out, but freshman TJ Schira came on in relief and induced a 5-2-3 double play and a popup to keep the Majors off the board.
- Centre faced the prospects of an elimination game later in the day as they went into the bottom of the ninth, but the senior class came through three straight times as Karson Thompson, Conner Jackson and Josh Cunningham all delivered consecutive clutch hits, with Cunningham's shot going into the gap for an RBI double. With runners on second and third, Millsaps made a pitching change and Prather hit the second pitch he saw near one of the light poles in left center field for the walk-off winner.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

- In addition to his first career walk-off homer and team high three RBIs, Prather tied Jackson and Ayden Lohr for the team lead with two hits in a game where hits were hard to come by.
- Schira picked up his first career win after escaping the bases loaded jam in the seventh and throwing a scoreless eighth.
