MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Centre men's tennis team saw its season come to an end in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament semifinal match versus Sewanee. The Colonels fell 5-0 to the top-seeded Tigers.
The Colonels put forth a valiant effort in the doubles competitions. The Centre representatives won at least four games in each match.
Jasper Gazzo and
Chase Turley forced Liam Baer and Gil Weston to a tiebreaker in an 8-7 (7-4) setback in the third slot.
Ty Bush and
Bo Bush won six games in an 8-6 loss to Jordan Theron and Quinn Wicklund in the top-slotted duos match.
Ben Rueff and
Isaac Flanery fell 8-4 in the No. 2 match versus Peyton Erck and Andre-Remi Jakobi.
Two singles matches were played to a finish. Rueff fell 6-1, 6-3 in the top-ranked singles match to Theron. Flanery and Ramsey went the distance in the No. 4 match that went 6-2, 6-1 for Sewanee.
Ashton Whitt was behind 6-4, 3-1 to Wicklund in an unfinished No. 2 singles match.
Ty Bush was just one mark behind in an uncompleted 6-4, 4-3 match with Weston in the third match.
Bo Bush was tied in the second set in his unfinished 6-2, 3-3 match versus Henry Hyden. Gazzo rounded out the singles action and was down 2-1 in the second set after defeating Charlie Pizzuti 6-4 in the first frame.
WRAPPING UP
The Colonels finished the season with a 10-10 overall mark after going 4-2 in the SAA. It is the third consecutive year the Gold & White have notched double-digit wins.
