MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Centre women's tennis closed the 2024 campaign with a 5-0 loss to top seed Sewanee in Saturday's Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament semifinal.
Maddy Trinh and
Grace Williams were the top ranked duos pair yet again for the Colonels and fell 8-2 to Brooke Despriet and Katherine Petty.
Carlie Mitchell and
Kennedy Herring had the same score in the No. 2 match with an 8-2 setback to Sarah Livingston and Ansley Carpenter.
Kayla Harger and
Natalie Black took one game in the third slotted duos match in an 8-1 loss to Mariella Congeni and Nicole Nowak.
In singles action, two matches were completed and they both featured the same score. Williams fell 6-2, 6-1 to Despriet in the second singles section. Black fell by the same score to Nowak in the sixth singles match.
Mitchell was up in her second set of the top-ranked section 2-1 after falling 6-4 to Petty in the second set of the unfinished match. Herring notched three wins in her unfinished No. 3 match that was at 6-0, 4-3 for Carpenter at the end. Very similar scores were reached in the final two unfinished games, as Trinh was behind 6-2, 5-1 in the fourth section and Harger was trailing 6-1, 5-1 in the fifth match.

The Colonels finished the season with a 9-10 overall mark after going 4-3 in the SAA. They had honorees on both the doubles and singles All-SAA teams with Williams on both the doubles and singles teams and Trinh on the doubles squad.
