BEREA, Ky. – The Centre men's track & field team competed for the first time since winning the Centre Invite as they headed to Berea College for the Landon Bond Classic. Highlights of today's meet included a school record of over 40 years going down in one of the distances.
Senior
Will Lovell made program history in the 1500m as he posted a time of 3:58.51 to break the record that Al Olash established in the race back in 1980, which was tied for the oldest existing school record for Centre men's track. Lovell finished second in that race and also posted the fastest time for the Colonels in the 800m, finishing fourth in 1:59.67. In the 5k,
Preston Dickerson paced the Centre men with a time of 16:20.30, good for third overall.
In the 100m,
Jeremy Olliges finished second overall with a time of 11.16. The other two sprints went to the Colonels as Olliges won the 200m in 22.38, while
Jackson Heim took first in the 400m in 49.93.
Reigning SAA Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Dirk Gambrel had an excellent pair of hurdling events, winning both races with times of 15.25 in the 110m and 54.59 in the 400m.
Justin Lewis and
Corbin Ison posted top-eight finishes in both of the hurdles races as well.
The jumps were another strong category for the Colonels. One week after breaking his previous school record,
Logan Isaacs picked up another win in the pole vault with a clear of 15-11.
Wyatt Ostrander cleared 12-11.5 to take third place. In the high jump,
Michael Smith tied for second place with a clear of 6-2.75. The triple jump saw
Philippe N'Dia finish fifth overall with a mark of 41-3.75, followed by Ostrander in sixth at 40-7. Finally, in the long jump,
Christian Billiter placed sixth with a mark of 21-3.5.

The Colonels will return to Andy Frye Stadium on Apr. 12 as they compete in the Centre Twilight.
