GLEN ALLEN, Va.- On Tuesday morning, the Colonels returned to the Dominion Golf Club to round out their play in the Max and Susan Stith Invitational. After two rounds, the Colonels placed seventh overall with a complete team score of 629 (319-310).
Janie Morgan led the Colonels through round two, making a 20 seed jump up the leader board. The sophomore shaved seven strokes off in her second round, placing her in a tie for 13
th with a final score of 153 (80-73).
Also making a push up the leader board,
Grace Walker shaved five strokes off to land in a tie for 18
th with a combined mark of 155 (80-75). Averaging three par-3's a round, Walker finished in the field's top-10 for that statistical category.
Margaret Butts matched her first round with an 80 in round two, allowing for a final score of 160 (80-80) and a 32
nd seed placement.
Rounding out Centre's line-up,
Ellie Roof finished in a tie for 37
th with a score of 162 (80-82) while
Emily Warner placed 46
th with a final mark of 164 (79-85).
MONDAY RECAP
The Centre women's golf team opened their play in the Max and Susan Stith Invitational. Facing 18-holes in day one, the Colonels rest in a two-way tie for 8
th with a first-round score of 319.
Carnegie Mellon currently leads with an opening score of 290. Rounding out the top three, Emory rests in second after scratching a 301 while Washington and Lee lies in third with a team score of 302.
Emily Warner led the Colonels throughout round one. Shooting no worse than a bogey on any hole, the junior landed in a tie for 29
th with a score of 79.
Following just after and sharing the tie for 32
nd is the remainder of Centre's line-up.
Grace Walker,
Margaret Butts,
Janie Morgan, and
Ellie Roof each recorded an 80 in their opening round. Due to her success on par-3 holes, Roof currently ranks within the field's top-10 in that respective category.
