DANVILLE, Ky. - On Monday afternoon the NCAA finalized the field of competitors for the 2024 Outdoor Track & Field National Championships and Centre College will be sending seven athletes to the NCAA finals, the most qualifiers in program history. All seven of Centre's national qualifiers were named All-Great Lakes Region over the weekend.
The meet will take place May 23-25. The first event featuring a Centre athlete will be the men's pole vault on Thursday, as four-time All-American
Logan Isaacs enters the event ranked third in the nation. Isaacs is coming off a program record vault of 16-7.25 to win the SAA Championships last month.
Later in the day,
Chloe Hein will compete in the women's long jump, looking to repeat as an All-American after finishing third in the country during indoor season. Hein set a program record mark of 19-5.25 to take home first place at the SAA Championships.
The first preliminary race will feature
Dirk Gambrel in the men's 400m hurdles. Gambrel, who owns both of Centre's men's outdoor hurdling school records, had the race of a lifetime at Lee University on May 11, clocking in at 52.85 to qualify for the NCAA finals, good for 16th in the nation.
Junior sprinter
Madjo Doumbia will be making her NCAA Championship debut in the women's 200m preliminary race. After just missing out on the field each of the last two seasons, Doumbia got in this year with a record time of 24.58 in the SAA Championships.
The final Thursday race for Centre will be the women's 10k, where
Sophie Bouldin will be making her first NCAA Championship appearance. Bouldin was the final qualifier for the finals based on her lifetime best race at Washington University back in March, where she posted a time of 35:40.15.
On Saturday,
Jasmine Claunch and
Serena McNeilly will be competing in the women's triple jump. Claunch, who has been an All-American four times, will be looking to cap off a brilliant career as she currently ranks fourth in the nation with a mark of 40-7.5. McNeilly, who was an All-American in the high jump during indoor season, posted a personal best mark of 39-4.5 at the Centre Invite on Mar. 30, good for 19th in the country.
Saturday will also feature the finals of the men's 400m hurdles and the women's' 200m.
