DANVILLE, Ky. - Earlier this evening, d3baseball.com released its All-America squads for the 2024 season and Centre's
Ben Prather earned Third Team All-America honors, becoming the first All-American in Centre baseball program history.
Prather, who was just named First Team All-Region 6 yesterday by the American Baseball Coaches Association as a utility man, had an unforgettable sophomore season with the Colonels, playing a pivotal role in the most successful season in program history. He ranked in the top ten in the Southern Athletic Association in 13 different statistical categories, leading the conference and setting a new single season program record with 57 RBIs. In the conference tournament against Millsaps, Prather sent the Colonels into the next round with a walk-off three-run home run in the ninth inning.
On the mound, Prather tied for the league lead with eight wins while ranking second in ERA and fifth in strikeouts despite playing in a majority of seven-inning contests. He earned weekly honors from the SAA on four different occasions, two each for offense and pitching.
