DANVILLE, Ky. – The Centre baseball team continued its late inning magic as the Colonels defeated the Rhodes Lynx 5-4 to advance in the winners' bracket of the Southern Athletic Association Tournament.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The visiting team grabbed the early edge in the first frame as Rhodes loaded the bases and worked a two-out walk to take a quick 1-0 lead, but
Luc Morgan pitched his way out of further damage.
- The Lynx maintained the 1-0 lead in the early innings thanks to strong pitching and a few nice plays in the infield, and then added to the lead in the sixth with an RBI double and a sacrifice fly.
- The Centre offense woke up in their half of the sixth. With
Josh Cunningham on second after a leadoff walk and two outs,
Michael Lynch lined one up the middle for a base hit to plate the first Centre run of the day.
- Rhodes bounced back with a run in the seventh, but Centre answered once more.
Jamie Laframboise was hit by a pitch to lead off, followed by an infield hit by
Aaron Lopez. A base hit to center field by
Conner Jackson narrowed the gap to 4-2.

Ben Prather led off the Centre eighth with a walk, an omen of things to come. After a fielder's choice, Lynch walked and the runners advanced on a balk. Laframboise then walked to load the bases, and a second consecutive two-out walk to Lopez drove in a run.
Karson Thompson worked yet another walk bring in the tying run. Following the second Rhodes pitching change of the inning, Jackson walked to bring in Laframboise for the go-ahead run and a 5-4 Centre lead.

David Kinsbrunner set the Lynx down in order in the ninth to lock up the victory for the Colonels.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- In the game-deciding eighth inning, the Colonels scored three runs without recording a hit, working six bases on balls during the inning.
- Lopez went 3-3 at the plate and had the first RBI walk of the eighth inning for the Colonels.
- Kinsbrunner earned the victory for Centre, throwing the final 3.2 innings of the game.
