Centre Athletics announces 2024 Hall of Fame class

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre Athletics is pleased to announce five new members to our Hall of Fame. Below are the inductees of the Centre Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2024 and their career accomplishments.

Kate Anderson (Women's Soccer, Class of 2009): Centre's first CoSIDA Academic All-American (2008); CoSIDA Academic All-District (2007); First Team All SCAC (2007, 2008); 2007 SCAC Defensive Player of the Year (2007); 2007 and 2008 captain; Coaches Award; SCAC Defensive Player of the Week (Oct. 2008); captained the first Centre women's soccer team to appear in the NCAA Tournament; supports top recruit nights and connects with all players of CWS. Founder of the 1926 Collective in support of NIL and experiential learning opportunities for Centre's female student-athletes.

Paige Baechle (Women's Basketball, Class of 2014): – NCAA Division III leader in double-doubles for the 2013-14 season with 26 in 28 games; all-time leading rebounder in Centre women's basketball; fourth leading scorer in program history; First Team All-SAA; First Team All-South Region; Third Team d3hoops.com All-American and Honorable Mention WBCA All-American. "She was one of the hardest workers and greatest competitors I have had the honor to coach." said head coach Wendie Austin. "For her to win the individual NCAA Division III statistical champion for double-doubles for the 2013-14 season is a credit to how consistent she was for the entire year. She was a great leader for our team and helped us accomplish many team goals while never thinking about such individual goals. We will definitely miss her and her presence on our team."

Thomas Britt (Men's Basketball, Class of 2008): – NABC Second Team All-American, 2007-08 SCAC Player of the Year on Centre mens basketball team that set program wins record with 26 and achieved a no. 2 national ranking; In 2007-08 he led the SCAC in three-point percentage, was a DIII News fifth-team All-American, and was the Centre Male Athlete of the Year; Finished career 112th all-time in SCAC for points scored in a career, 2007-08 First Team All-SCAC; Ended career with 1,005 total points.

Ben Hume (Football, Class of 2012): AFCA D3 All-American and D3Football.com All-American; anchored a Colonel offensive line that helped Centre lead the league in scoring offense (33.4 points/game) and rank in the top three in total offense (second - 362.3 yards/game), rushing offense (third - 189.4 yards/game) and passing offense (third - 172.9 yards/game). Team captain on first Centre football team to play and win a game in the NCAA Division III Playoffs; Additionally, Hume helped pave the way for the Centre running game to tally over 1,700 yards and 24 touchdowns. Hume also received two votes for SCAC Offensive Player of the Year and earned All-SCAC first-team postseason honors from the league's coaches three times. Hume was the only SCAC selection to the 2011 All-America team. He was also named to the All-Time CAC/SCAC Football Team.

Chelsea Klein (Field Hockey, Class of 2014): Longstreth/NFHCA First Team All-American; Klein was a leader for a Colonels team that set a school record for wins in a season and advanced farther than any Centre team previously had in the NCAA Tournament. As a senior, she led the Southern Athletic Association in goals (19), assists (15) and points (53) on the way to winning the conference's Offensive Player of the Year honor. Those numbers ranked Klein 25th nationally in points and 12th in assists. She also tied the NCAA record for assists in a game (5) in 2013. Klein finished her Centre career with 44 goals, 24 assists and 112 points and was a four-time all-conference selection and two-time all-region honoree before receiving the All-American recognition; 2010 SCAC Newcomer of the Year; Four-time SCAC/SAA Academic Honor Roll. She was also named 2013-2014 Centre College Female Student-Athlete of the Year and was chosen to participate in the NFHCA Division III Senior All-Star Game
