LEXINGTON, Ky.- Centre men's golf returned to the University of Kentucky Golf Club to finish their play in the Transylvania Fall Invite. After their two rounds of play, the Colonels finished in eighth place with a final team score of 589 (293-296).
Mary Hardin-Baylor and Transylvania shared first place with team marks of 570 while Kenyon rounded out the top three with a score of 577.
Charlie Reber led Centre through both rounds of play. In his opening 18-holes, the sophomore scratched his lowest single round score with the Colonels yet, a 67. Closing with a final mark of 142 (67-75), the sophomore shared a four-way tie for eighth place.
Jiles Wyatt finished seven over par in his second round of golf. Closing with a final score of 148 (71-77), the junior claimed a share of the 32
nd seed.
James Folz shaved seven strokes off between his two rounds, finishing with a final mark of 151 (79-72). The senior notched the Colonels' only Eagle on hole seven, assisting to his 17 seed jump up the leader board to land in 48
th place.
Rounding out Centre's roster,
Harrison Akers finished in a tie for 57
th with a complete score of 154 (82-72) while
Dylan McGrath tied for 65
th with a final mark of 156 (76-80).
SATURDAY RECAP
Centre men's golf remained in state for their first invitational of the 2024-25 season, traveling north to open their play in the Transylvania Fall Invite. Due to inclement weather and diminishing light, round one was suspended until Sunday morning.
Before postponement, sophomore
Charlie Reber led the invitational as the top performer overall and currently sits -5 under par with just four holes to go.
Jiles Wyatt resides in a tie for 12
th, shooting one under par with two holes remaining in round one.
Dylan McGrath and
James Folz share a tie for 47
th with four holes to go while
Harrison Akers rests in 83
rd.
The Colonels will return to the University Club of Kentucky tomorrow morning where they will complete round one and continue into their second round. Due to the weather, the format has been altered to a 36-hole event.
