SHELBYVILLE, Ind. - The Centre women's cross country team returned to action with the Grizzly Invitational, featuring some of the top teams in the Great Lakes Region. The Colonels ran well, with all five of their scoring times landing inside the top 40 for a sixth place finish.
Centre ended the meet with a combined team score of 136 points, nine points back of fifth place Kalamazoo. DePauw, Trine, Ohio Northern and Case Western Reserve represented the rest of the top five teams in that order.
Individually, reigning SAA Runner of the Week
Sophie Bouldin posted the top time for the Colonels as she completed the 6k course with a time of 23:16.50 to finish 13th overall. She was immediately followed by senior
Erin Haugh, who finished 14th overall with a time of 23:21.72.
First-year
Ava Plumb ran an excellent race with a time of 24:17.51, good for 32nd overall.
Rachel Gaynor and
Cara Taylor rounded out Centre's scoring runners for the day as they posted respective times of 24:27.29 and 24:30.29.
Claire Barnett gave the Centre women their sixth individual time in the top 50 as she finished in 24:49.32.

After a week off, the Colonels will be back in action on Sept. 21 as they head to Memphis to race in the Rhodes Invitational.
