SUNDAY RECAP
RICHMOND, Ky. - The final 18 holes are in the books at the Eastern Kentucky Colonel Classic at the University Club at Arlington, as the Centre men's golf team, competing as the only Division III team in the field, came away with a seventh place finish.
The Colonels posted a combined team score of 297 to give them a 54-hole total of 875, finishing eight shots behind Marshall and Mercyhurst, who each tied for fifth place.
Individually, the best score of the third round for the Colonels belonged to
Harrison Akers, who shot even par with a round of 70. That included an eagle on the par 5 second hole, the only eagle recorded by a Centre player in the tournament.
Akers tied for Centre's tournament low score with
Jack Butts, who recorded his second consecutive round of 71 after playing his final nine holes at two under par. Butts and Akers posted 54-hole scores of 215 to crack the individual top 25.
Drew Edwards and
Charlie Reber rounded out the counted totals for Centre on Sunday with respective rounds of 77 and 79, while
Wynn Flynt shot 81 and
Peyton Toon posted a score of 83 to finish off the Colonels' figures for the third round. Toon gave the Colonels three players in the overall top 50 on the strength of his 68 in round 2.
SATURDAY RECAP
RICHMOND, Ky. – The Centre men's golf team returned to action with the Eastern Kentucky Colonel Classic at the University Club at Arlington, where the first 36 holes were played on Saturday. Thanks to a strong team finish on the back nine in round 2, the Colonels moved from eighth on the leaderboard to sixth.

Three different players shot under par on the final nine holes of the Saturday session to help the Colonels climb up the leaderboard as they finished with a combined team score of 578, one shot ahead of seventh place Marshall and six shots back of fifth place Mercyhurst.

Individually, the low man on the day for the Colonels was
Peyton Toon. After firing a 73 in the first 18 holes, the freshman closed his second round strong, including five consecutive birdies on the back nine to finish two under at 68, making him one over par for the tournament.

Jack Butts posted a 36-hole score of 144 to finish at four over for the tournament, thanks in large part to a pair of birdies on the back nine to help him finish round 2 with a score of 71.

Harrison Akers posted scores of 70 and 75 to sit at five over par with one round to go. Akers played his best in the opening round, overcoming a pair of early bogeys with two birdies on the final nine holes to finish at even par at 70.

Charlie Reber posted scores of 74 and 80 to round out Centre's counted totals with a 36-hole score of 154. Freshmen
Wynn Flynt and
Drew Edwards sit at respective Saturday scores of 155 and 157.
