DANVILLE, Ky. - On Monday afternoon, the city of Danville recognized the national championship efforts of Centre women's track & field athletes

Serena McNeilly in a ceremony held at City Hall.
Chloe Hein won the national championship for Centre women's track & field in the long jump at the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships in Birmingham, Ala. Hein posted a mark of 20'6.25" (6.25m) to earn the victory while setting a championship meet record in the process. She owns six of the ten best marks in the long jump in the history of Division III women's track, including the only jump ever at over 21 feet, set at this year's conference championships. A junior from Alexandria, Ky., Hein has been named an All-American eight times in her career at Centre and owns six school records between indoor & outdoor track & field.
Serena McNeilly was named Outstanding Performer after winning two national championships at this year's NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships in Birmingham, Ala. She won her first title in a grueling pentathlon that saw her break her own school record in the high jump in the process for her first national championship of the weekend. Her 3,782 total points shattered her previous school record in the pentathlon by over 250 points. Later in the meet, McNeilly equaled her school record mark of 5'10.5" (1.79m) in the high jump en route to winning her second national championship of the weekend. A junior from Radcliff, Ky., McNeilly has been named an All-American ten times thus far in her collegiate track & field career and owns six school records.
Both McNeilly and Hein are in good position to qualify for multiple events for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, which will take place in La Crosse, Wisc. on May 21-23.
