BEREA, Ky. – The Centre men's cross country team took on a challenging course at Berea College that took them up a mountain by campus. The hills and the heat did not deter the Colonels from finishing in first place.
 
The Colonels won with a total of 20 points thanks to placing seven finishers in the overall top 15. Centre finished 37 points ahead of Truett-McConnell and 58 ahead of Asbury.
 
Individually, sophomore Houston Brooks picked up his first collegiate win on the difficult 8k course as he crossed the finish line in 26:46.7, over 30 seconds faster than the second place finisher.
 
Quinn Gulden finished in fourth place with a time of 27:48.6, which triggered a run of three straight Colonels to finish. Gulden was immediately followed by Max Germann in 28:02 and Maverick Waters in 28:04.1 to give Centre four of the top six in the standings.
 
Henry Downs concluded the counted scores for the Colonels as he finished eighth overall in 28:11.1, with Grayson Miller (28:24.8) and Jackson Micheletto (28:34) also cracking the top 15.

The Colonels will race again on Oct. 3 as they head up to the University of Louisville for the Greater Louisville Classic.
