Duane Morris joined the Centre College coaching staff in the spring of 2026 as an assistant coach working with the throwing events. In his first season with the Colonels, Morris coached one national champion in the pentathlon, four Southern Athletic Association (SAA) individual champions, 16 SAA All-Conference athletes, and two NCAA Division III All-Americans. His work with the throwing group helped the Centre women’s team finish third at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships and fifth at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.
During the 2026 outdoor season, Morris coached David Harless and Zoey Shahid-Scott to SAA Thrower of the Year honors after their outstanding performances at the conference championships.
Prior to joining Centre, Morris served as the head track and field coach at Midway University in 2023. During his time at Midway, he coached 72 all-conference athletes, 16 NAIA national qualifiers, five NAIA All-Americans, and two national runners-up.
Morris spent nine seasons at Kennesaw State University from 2010-19, where he helped establish one of the top programs in the ASUN Conference. During his tenure, Morris coached 46 ASUN Conference champions, 118 ASUN All-Conference athletes, and two NCAA Division I All-Americans. Kennesaw State captured 14 ASUN team championships on the men's side and three on the women's side. The men's program reached as high as No. 16 in the NCAA Division I national rankings, while the women's team climbed to No. 23 nationally.
Morris began his collegiate coaching career at Eastern Kentucky University from 2008-10. During his time with the Colonels, he was part of a nationally ranked cross country program that captured six team championships.
Morris earned his bachelor's degree in Social Work from Morehead State University in 2004 before earning a Master of Science in Physical Education and Sports Administration from Eastern Kentucky University in 2010.
Morris and his wife, Laraissa, were married in 2007 and have one daughter, Madison.
