Jacob Carter joined the Centre track coaching staff in the summer of 2021.
Carter graduated from Bardstown High School in Bardstown, Kentucky. He was a three-time Kentucky Class A state champion. He was also named to the first all-academic team and all-state team in 2008 where he finished runner-up in the discus.
A 2012 Centre graduate, Carter was the 2012 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Year as he helped the Centre men win conference championships in each of their final two seasons in the SCAC. He was named Freshmen of the Year in 2009 by the coaches within the SCAC. Carter left the Centre program with school records in the indoor weight throw and the shot put.
After graduating from Centre, Carter spent two years as the throws coach at Lindsey Wilson College, and four seasons as the head track and cross-country coach at Union Commonwealth University in Barbourville, Ky. Carter has coached 16 All-Americans, 4 national champion runners-up, and has won 9 team conference championships as a coach.
