Rush joined the Colonels staff in 2016 after a successful playing career at Centre.

"Sam is a natural leader that has a great knowledge and enthusiasm for the game," Centre men's lacrosse head coach Dan Sharbaugh said." He already has a great understanding of our school and program it was a perfect fit. He will be a great asset to our program moving forward."

Rush returns to Centre after working as a Sales Associate at the Orvis Company in Charlotte.

"I would like to thank Athletic Director Brad Fields and head coach Dan Sharbaugh for this excellent opportunity," Rush said. "I am very excited to continue to be a part of the Centre men's lacrosse program and the Centre College community; I am grateful to be able to contribute to the success of Centre both on and off the field."

Rush closed his career with the Colonels with 44 goals, averaging 0.92 goals per game. He also tallied seven career assists and 48 career ground balls.

Rush was an All-SAA Honorable Mention selection as a senior in 2015, finishing with 21 goals, good for third on the team. He netted four goals on two occasions during the season, first in a 19-4 win over Millsaps and then again in an 11-7 victory at Hendrix.

He added three goals in Centre's 16-7 triumph over Hanover and in the Colonels' 12-9 victory against local rival Transylvania.

Rush scored 14 goals as a freshman in 2012, scoring multiple goals in three games during his debut season.

Rush and the Colonels captured the 2014 SAA Tournament Championship and a share of the Southern Athletic Association Regular Season Championship in 2015, and made back-to-back NCAA Division III Tournament appearances in 2013 and 2014.

Rush graduated from Centre in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Spanish.
