Box Score 2 The Centre College volleyball team split a pair of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) matches falling to Birmingham Southern College and then defeating Oglethorpe University on day one of the SCAC East Inter-Pod Saturday, Oct. 1 in Birmingham, Ala.
The Colonels dropped games one and two 25-20 to Birmingham Southern and then fell 26-24 in game three.
Senior Stephanie Woeste (Louisville, Ky.), sophomore Lydia Prevost (Knoxville, Tenn.) and freshman Suzanne Asbury (Louisville, Ky.) tallied seven kills each. Senior Laura Hench (Lexington, Ky.) had 10 digs, while junior Jenna Foushee (Louisville, Ky.) and sophomore Kim Lownds (Evergreen, Colo.) finished with seven and six digs respectively.
Centre bounced back with a three-game win over the Stormy Petrels. The Colonels won 25-15, 25-15 and 25-21.
Prevost led the way with 10 kills and two blocks. Senior Hannah Greer (Owensboro, Ky.) tallied 20 assists and nine digs. Lownds recorded nine kills, Hench 18 digs and Woeste four blocks in the victory.
Centre now, 10-8 overall and 4-2 in the SCAC, will return for day two of the Inter-Pod Sunday, Oct. 2. The Colonels will play Sewanee-University of the South at 11 a.m. CST in Birmingham, Ala.
