Box Score In a matchup of ranked opponents, the Centre women's soccer team came away with a 3-0 road win at No. 13 Case Western Reserve on Saturday in Cleveland, Ohio.
Three different players scored the goals for the 25th ranked Colonels, who stay perfect at 3-0 on the season. The loss was the first of the season for Case Western Reserve, which drops to 2-1-1 on the year.
Centre first got on the board in the 22nd minute when Anne Mitchell (Fayetteville, Ark.) scored on a shot from 20 yards out with Mary Taylor Kersey (Winchester, Ky.) on the assist. With less than seven minutes remaining before the half, the Colonnels struck again with Megan Rueth (St. Charles, Ill.) taking advantage of a Case Western turnover to score an unassisted goal.
In the second half, The Colonels pushed the lead to 3-0 when freshman Alex Combs (Danville, Ky.) scored in the 72nd minute to cap the scoring.
Centre outshot Case Western 8-5 in the contest, putting five of those on goal to three for Case Western. Megan Foley (Louisville, Ky.) and Holly Hilton (New Palestine, Ind.) split time in goal for Centre with Hilton making two saves and Foley one. Cameron Casson made two saves in the loss for Case Western.
Centre continues its weekend road trip when it travels to Rose Hulman for a 2 p.m. game on Sunday.
