Box Score The Centre field hockey team picked up its third straight victory with a 6-2 win over Bethany on Monday in Danville, Ky.
Chelsea Klein (Louisville, Ky.) and Alexis Hebert (Chapel Hill, N.C.) each scored twice in the win for the Colonels while Kelsey Gordon (Louisville, Ky.) and Nicole Deherde (Hope, N.J.) each added single goals.
The goals by Klein and Hebert bring their season totals to 14 and 13 respectively, which ranks at the top of the conference list. Klein also added an assist in the game to bring her conference leading total to 11.
The Colonels never trailed in the game, scoring twice in the first seven minutes of play. Though Bethany pulled within one midway through the first half, Centre went on to increase the margin to 3-1 by halftime and score the first three goals of the second half. The only other Bethany score would come with no time remaining.
Centre outshot Bethany 34-6 in the game and held a 16-5 advantage in penalty corners. Kirby Roberts (Louisville, Ky.) made four saves for Centre while Jacqueline Harrison had 16 stops for Bethany.
With the win, Centre improves to 11-1 on the season while Bethany falls to 1-8. The Colonels go on the road this weekend where they will take on Lynchburg on Friday and Washington and Lee on Saturday.
