Box Score The Centre men's lacrosse team fell 17-4 to No. 12 Denison University in a neutral site game Sunday in Charlottesville, Va.
The Colonels fell behind early with Denison scoring the first eight goals of the game. Centre first got on the board on a Peter Murphy (Louisville, Ky.) goal early in the second quarter with Sam Rush (Cornelius, N.C.) and Conor Bennett (Alpharetta, Ga.) adding goals later in the quarter to make the halftime score 10-3.
That was as close as Centre would get, however, as Denison opened the second half with six straight goals and outscored the Colonels 7-1 the rest of the way. Seth Gray (Louisville, Ky.) scored Centre's final goal on an assist from Connor Stubbs (Decatur, Ga.) with two minutes remaining.
Centre's Bryce McCoy (Hudson, Ohio) made 17 saves in goal while Chris Thomas had four stops for Dension. Overall, Denison had a 52-12 advantage in shots, 58-19 in ground balls and 22-2 in face offs.
Centre falls to 2-2 on the season while Denison improves to 5-1. The Colonels take on Piedmont on Wednesday in Alpharetta, Ga.
