Junior year: Named Second Team All-SAA. Ranked 33rd in D3 Assists Per Game (32). Ranked 62nd in D3 Points Per Game (avg. per game 3.80). Ranked 278th in D3 Shot Percentage (.329).Played in 15 games, had 25 goals, 32 assists and contributed 57 points. He had 76 shots with his shot percentage being .329, 45 of these shots were on goal, shots on goal percentage were .592. He had 44 ground balls.
Sophomore Year: First Team All-SCAC, No. 7 in NCAA in assists per game with 2.38, No. 36 in NCAA in total points with 64, No. 31 in NCAA in points per game with 4, appeared in 16 games starting three, registered 26 goals and 38 assists on 54 shots. Picked up 51 ground balls.
At St Xavier High School: He played JV soccer and earned three varsity letters in lacrosse, he earned captain his senior year. In addition, he was a 3-time All-State player, and an All-American in 2010. He is son of Marc Murphy and Giselle Berwanger – Marc is a Notre Dame graduate and works as a lawyer, while Giselle is a LSU graduate and works in sales. He has two brothers: John, who attended Trinity and is a Bellarmine grad; and Jay, who is a freshman at Trinity this year. He has participated in community service as a volunteer at the Nativity Academy, and at Providence College, where he worked with the Special Olympics and the Boys and Girls Club of America. He has worked at River City Sports Arena, the Southwest YMCA in Louisville, and has coached lacrosse at the U15 level. He was a honors student at Saint Xavier, and last year attended Providence College, where he played lacrosse – scoring one goal and two assists.
