Box Score One night after posting a season-opening shutout victory, the Centre College women's soccer team blanked Case Western Reserve 1-0 on day two of the Centre Showcase Saturday, August 31 in Danville, Ky.
Play was halted early in the first half due to a lighting delay and both teams were forced to leave the field.
Following the break, junior Becca Hinds (Austin, Texas) scored her third career goal 37:54 into the opening half for the only tally of the match.
Centre (2-0) out-shot the Spartans 10-5 in the first period and 5-3 in the second half with all three of Case Western Reserve's (1-1) shots coming in the final 16 minutes. The Colonels also had an 8-0 edge in corner kicks.
Like the opening match, sophomore Holly Hilton (New Palestine, Ind.) and freshman Olivia Alford (Louisville, Ky.) combined on the shutout in goal. Each keeper made two saves in their 45 minutes of action.
No. 18 Centre will take to the road Friday and Saturday, Sept. 6-7 to take part in the Transylvania Showcase. The Colonels will play Kenyon at 6 p.m. Friday and then Covenant at 6 p.m. Saturday. Both matches will be played in Lexington, Ky.
