Colonels fall to Vikings in SAA road matchup

ROME, Ga. - For the second time in as many days, the Centre volleyball team lost in Southern Athletic Association road action in the state of Georgia, falling to the 21st-ranked Berry Vikings in straight sets.

HIGHLIGHTS

- After winning the opening set by a score of 25-7, Centre led for most of the early portion of the second set before Berry scored six consecutive points midway through the frame, never looking back for a 25-18 win.

- The third set was more of the same as Centre stayed close early on with the Vikings, but Berry came through with a 6-1 run to create distance at about the halfway point of the set and took the win by an identical score of 25-18.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

- Keeley Morton led the Colonels with six digs against the Vikings, followed by Bailey Vernon and Perrin Long with four each. Two of the three lowest team kill totals for the year for the Colonels have come in their pair of matches with Berry.

- Kylie Cochran finished with a team high 15 assists to go along with nine digs. Peyton Vacala led the way for Centre with 17 digs.

- Sunday's contest marked the first time all season that Centre did not register a block in a match. The Colonels had recorded 100 blocks through their first 15 matches of 2018.
