DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre women's soccer scored four goals in a 20-minute span to run away from Wooster in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, 4-0, played under chilly conditions at Andrew P. Amend Field Saturday.
The fourth-ranked Colonels (20-0) proved too much for the visiting Fighting Scots (13-4-3), who went toe-to-toe until with Centre until
Keeghan Francis opened the flood gates in the 54th minute.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre dominated possession during the early stages of the match, getting a handful of chances on goal.
- Francis found the back of the net in the 19th minute, but was deemed offsides and the score remained level.
- Wooster handled much of the possession in the later stages of the period, but the two sides went into the break in a scoreless tie.
- Centre broke out in a major way early in the second period, beginning on Francis' goal in the 54th minute.
Alana Hughes provided the assist with a precise header forward.
