Short-handed Colonels defeat Spalding, 2-0

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre men's soccer righted the ship Sunday evening at Andrew P. Amend Field, snapping a three-match skid with a 2-0 victory against Spalding.

Playing down a man for more than half of the match, the Colonels (6-3) defeated the visiting Golden Eagles (7-2) for the second season in a row and fourth time in six all-time meetings.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Xavier Tomlin gathered a loose ball in front of goal and put away the game's opening goal in the 27th minute, good for his first of the year.
- AJ Jallow nearly doubled Centre's lead in the 32nd minute, but his shot glanced off the far post.
- Carson Hart picked up a second yellow in the 37th minute, leaving Centre a man down the rest of the way.
- Spalding's best attempt of the first half came from Kornell Hilliard, one of Division III's leading goal scorers, but Bailey Spade was equal to the task.
- Royce Pope added Centre's second goal in the 57th minute following a well-orchestrated attack, netting his first goal of the season.
