Centre beats Hendrix, wins fourth straight

CONWAY, Ark. – The Centre field hockey team improved to 2-0 in the Southern Athletic Association, picking up an 8-1 victory over the Hendrix Warriors and setting the stage for a huge matchup on Sunday.

HIGHLIGHTS

- The Colonels were the aggressors from the outset as Sarah Biggs and Emily Schank scored a pair of goals in the first five minutes of the contest. After a Hendrix goal cut the lead to one, Biggs put away her second scoring effort of the day and Centre led 3-1 at the half.

- Biggs completed the hat trick early in the second half to effectively put the game away for the Colonels.

- Savannah Elpers scored two goals for the Colonels in the second half. Caroline Brotzge and Demi Kennedy provided the rest of the scoring in the 8-1 victory.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

- Centre outshot the Warriors 36-4 for the contest, including a 30-3 advantage in shots on goal.

- Erika Bell assisted on a pair of Centre goals for the day. Brotzge, Peyton Baer, Kate Pilcher and reigning SAA Defensive Player of the Week Maran Lee all notched assists for the Colonels as well.

- After scoring just one goal in the first two losses, the Colonels have now outscored their opponents 30-5 during their four-game winning streak.
