Colonels, Vikings level after 110 minutes

DANVILLE, KY. - The Centre men's soccer squad came to a scoreless draw with the Berry Vikings in Saturday night's Southern Athletic Association meeting at Andrew P. Amend Field.
 
Although playing much of the match a man down, the Colonels (7-3-1, 0-1-1 SAA) hung in with the visiting Vikings (6-1-1, 1-0-1) for 110 minutes. After several heart-racing shots-on-goal, neither team could best the other, ultimately ending in a draw.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
- Shot were fairly even in the opening half, with Berry taking five to Centre's three.
 
- The Colonels took ten shots in the second half, though, coming up with more chances on goal while out-shooting their opponents.
 
- Berry had a breakaway in the late in the second half, with two attackers charging straight into Centre territory. Ethan Noel, the lone defender, won an amazing 2-on-1 battle for the ball, keeping the score 0-0.
 
- Heart-stopping moment in double overtime for Centre when the ball was headed in the box onto a Colonels defender and bounced around until it finally made it into the hands of Bailey Spade.
 
- Patrick Ferrell made the final stand defensively, sliding to block a shot in the closing seconds of the final overtime.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The score wasn't the only tie tonight, as both teams managed to take 16 shots
 
- Spade had a multitude of saves, finishing the game with a total of seven while recording his eighth clean sheet of the season. This Colonel team has eight shutouts in 11 matches, tying for fourth all-time.
