DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Centre men's basketball sank 15 3-pointers Friday evening, cruising past Lawrence, 85-60, in their finale of the Daytona Beach Shootout at the Ocean Center.
The 15 triples were a season high for the Colonels (9-2), who led by as many as 29 points while netting nearly 48% of their shots overall. The Vikings (5-3) couldn't hang with the Colonels in the end, going just 4 of 26 from long range while turning the ball over 13 times.
Jacob Bates once again recorded a double-double, recording 21 points and a career-high 15 rebounds.
Bailey Rakes knocked down five 3-pointers, matching his own personal best with 18 points.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Six individuals from each team scored in the opening stages, and the two sides were tied at 15-15 near the 11 minute mark of the first half.
- The Colonels went on a 9-0 run to take a 24-15 lead later in the half, keeping Lawrence without a field goal for a lengthy eight-minute span.

Dawson Crump hit a pair of late 3-pointers, helping Centre take a 41-28 lead into the break.
- A 15-2 run to start the second half saw the Colonels' lead balloon up to 59-30 – their largest of the evening. Bates accounted for 10 of those 15 points.
- The Vikings struggled to slow down the Colonels, and couldn't overcome the large deficit. Bates and Rakes combined for 25 of Centre's 44 second half points.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Bates has six double-doubles this season, and is averaging 20.5 points and 9.1 rebounds per game while shooting 64% overall. His three 3-pointers Friday evening proved to be a career high, and he added two assists, two steals and block.
- Rakes went 5-for-10 from long range, also recording two assists, two boards and two blocks.
- Crump drained three triples, finishing with 11 points, and
Carter Baughman tallied eight points while hitting two 3-pointers.

Perry Ayers stuffed the box score with seven points, seven rebounds and a season-high seven assists.
- The Colonels held a sizeable 22-4 advantage in points off turnovers, and also had a 19-12 edge in second chance points.
- Centre out-rebounded Lawrence 40 to 32, matching a season best with 15 offensive rebounds.

Centre faces Transylvania Dec. 30 inside Alumni Gymnasium, marking the first time since the 1996-97 campaign that the two programs will meet twice in the same regular season. The Colonels defeated the Pioneers 58-57 back on Nov. 20 in Lexington, Ky., as Bates hit a game-winning bucket in the final seconds.
