Centre women have strong showing at Fred Wilt Invite

2/24/2019 2:12:00 PM

ANDERSON, Ind. - The Centre women's track and field team brought a partial squad to Anderson University for the Fred Wilt Memorial Invitational. Although the event was not scored, the Colonels continued their trend of excellent individual performances during this indoor season.

In the women's 3000m, senior Annie Rodenfels broke her previous Centre school record with a dominant performance. Rodenfels posted a time of 9:54.38 to win the race by almost one full minute. In addition to setting a new Centre record with her time, Rodenfels also established a new meet record for fastest 3k ever.

The personal bests were not limited to Rodenfels, as sophomore Madison Malloy finished with a lifetime best 5k time of 18:31.47, the fastest time among college runners in the race. The 5k would have been an extremely high-scoring event for the Colonels had it been a scored meet, as Centre had five out of the top eight collegiate times in the event. In addition to Malloy, junior Olivia Honaker, sophomores Alison Anderson and Emma Stowe and freshman Amelia Fogle all finished in the top eight for the event.

In the 60m hurdles, junior Erin Cunningham finished fourth overall with a time of 10.19. Junior Nia Dye also had a fourth place finish after posting a time of 1:05.43 in the 400m.
