DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre baseball opened their Southern Athletic Association series against Sewanee with a 14-4 run-rule victory in eight innings at Gary Wright Field Saturday.
The visiting Tigers would level the series with a 3-2 victory in Saturday's seven-inning finale.
The Colonels stand at 13-7 overall and 3-4 in the SAA following the split, while Sewanee moves to 15-9 (2-6 SAA).

Centre's
Sam Shelley surrendered a run in the top of the first, but got a double play to escape further damage.
The Colonel bats wasted no time getting going, as Centre plated three in the bottom of the frame.
Mason Falbo,
Patrick Hope and
Jake Holloway each delivered RBIs during the inning.
Centre kept it going in the second, with Falbo again coming up with a RBI to score
Parker Selin. Holloway would drive home
Will Kirk later in the frame.
A deep double from
Seth Hagan in the third brought in
Chris Esselman, and Hagan himself would come in on a Sewanee error to make it 7-1.
Holloway led off the eighth with his first career homerun, smacking a solo shot over the right field fence.
Drew Schacht singled to bring in Kirk in the fifth, pushing the lead up to 8-1.
Shelley saw a couple more runs cross in the sixth and seventh, but left the game with the Colonels up 9-3 after tossing seven innings. He allowed nine hits and struck out three.
Sewanee's bullpen got into hot water in the eighth, eventually leading to the run-rule decision. Holloway drew a base on balls with the bases loaded, and Esselman followed with a two-RBI single.
Jordan Gunter came up with an infield single to score Holloway, and Schacht ended the affair with another bases loaded walk, making it 14-4.
Kirk, Schacht, Falbo, Holloway, Esselman and Selin all finished with multiple hits, and Holloway led the team with four RBIs.
HIGHLIGHTS: SEWANEE 3, CENTRE 2
Saturday's nightcap proved much closer, and was a battle between starters Esselman and Sewanee's Dalton Buckingham.
The first three innings were scoreless, and Centre plated the game's first run in the fourth.
Cameron Duggins delivered a perfect sacrifice bunt that brought in Holloway, who led off the inning with a single.
Esselman was working on a no-hitter until the fifth, but the Tigers would score three to take their first lead of the game.
Duggins had his second RBI of the game in the sixth, scoring Hagan to pull Centre within 3-2.
The Colonels had the game-tying run on second in the bottom of the seventh, but were unable to score and extend the game.
